Okay – We have a little more time now. Again, we want to thank you for coming out today and sharing a great morning with an excellent start to the day. A HUGE congratulations to Dallas Erdahl and Chelsea Schlegel our Men’s and Women’s winners for 2011. We’ll be sending that information to the paper and hope to have that entered in next week’s edition. The results are updated with the Overall and the Men’s and Women’s Results split. Going through the times, we are missing about 18 times. We know several people were just enjoying the morning’s activity with other people and didn’t cross the actual finish line but we’d love to include your time if you have it. We are sorry for any confusion on the finish area if there was any. Again – We so appreciate you coming out and supporting our program and joining us for an active morning in the outdoors. We hope to see you again next year and we’ll be working on improvements to make things run better and make your experience more enjoyable. Please let us know how we can make it a better experience for you in future years. Pass the word along to your friends and family, we’d love to have them join us next year also. Again, Thank You! We hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!!
Also, if you have pictures from the event, we’d love to put some up. Coach K forgot her camera today and is regretting it.
Results are posted but they are not complete. I’ve put up what is finished but I have to leave for family events so I’ll finish going through things when I return. If your time is not listed though and you have it – please e-mail it to me @ kirstin.anderson@elkriver.k12.mn.us
We hope you had a wonderful time this morning – we sure did! Thank you for the great showing and thanks to the nordic team for all your hard work today!! We’ll post more info later!
Happy Thanksgiving!!
We are all ready for you tomorrow! We’ll set the course at 7:00am tomorrow. Registration and bib pick-up starting at 7:15am with the run starting at 8:00am and the walk starting at 8:10am. We do have one change to announce – because of the recent snow and melting – we will not be doing the running course out to “The X”. We feel that the challenging hills and terrain will be potentially slippery and dangerous for our runners so we will instead be shifting everyone to the paved 5km course. This will be a two loop course for all athletes this year.
Yes, we are on the schedule and are getting ready to go. Registration is up at ZapEvents so pass the word and join us for a great morning of activity. You’ll be able to bring your family out for a beautiful 5k run or walk and then head back to your houses for your own excellent turkey dinner.
We are raising funds for the Elk River Nordic Ski Team so come support your local athletes and enjoy a morning outside as well. This is our second year of the new annual event so join us for a low-frills event this year. Bib, time and treats afterward, along with a cool cinch sack for the first 100 registered. Let us know how we are doing and how you like it.
This is the only Turkey-Day 5k in the surrounding area so if you don’t feel like driving down to Minneapolis, come on over to your backyard of Elk River. All are welcome and enjoy the show!
Runners and volunteers – thank you for your help today. We may have been small in number but it was a great morning to be outside! Hopefully you have thawed out and warmed up enough to enjoy your turkey dinner. Results are up now for the mornings 3.7km run. We apologize for the mistake in course marking and will be sure to have that fixed up for next year. Great running, great morning, great day! Thank you for coming!!
With the projected snow and weather, Woodland Trails has closed the ski trails to any walking – good for us as skiers, not so good for us when we are holding a 5k tomorrow. We have decided to move the location to just down the road at Meadowvale Heights Park. It is a cute little park nestled in a lovely neighborhood and should be just right for a 8:00 am run/walk/waddle to get ready for the turkey. We will have people out directing traffic for you but the new park has paved trails and it will be a nice little loop system there. Much less challenging then the Woodland Trails run-course.
The entrance is off of Co Rd 1, between Woodland Trails and Meadowvale. If you are coming from Elk River, take Co Rd 1 and turn left onto 196th Ave. Drive straight and it will be on your left. If you are coming from Woodland Trails, take Co Rd 1 toward Elk River and turn right onto 196th Ave. Drive straight and it will be on your left. 8:00am start time!! Drive safe and enjoy the snow. (And pass the word!!)
