Local Ski Swaps
2008-2009 Season

Linked below are three of the local ski swaps. These are great places to find used and discounted equipment. You will want to arrive early at most ski swaps to find the best selection. When looking for skis, make sure to have them fit tested for you. If you buy the wrong size even though they are a great deal, they are still the wrong size. The squeeze test is a "basic" cambor test for skis but if it is available, please make sure you get a flex test. Poles are much easiers to size for. Classic poles should be between your armpit and shoulder while skate poles should be between your chin and bottom of your nose.

Each swap should have some staff on hand to assist you if you don't really know what you are looking for. If you are planning to head down to the ski swap, talk to the coaches ahead of time and they can point you in a good direction for equipment. We know it is a big investment and we just want to make sure that you are happy with where you end up in the long run.

The first one is hosted by Pioneer Midwest in Osseo. This is the fourth year of this swap and it has gotten larger each year. There was quite a selection of equipment last year and the same is expected this year. The second swap is sponsored by the Minnesota Youth Ski League. They usually have a large selection and many people on hand to help with ski fit. This is usually a very busy swap also so plan to arrive early.

The flyers below are from last year but will give you a little bit more information if you are looking for it. Remember to tell any ski shop that you are on a high school ski team, most of them offer team pricing or a team discount.
