Section CHAMPIONSHIPS!

All directions and times have been updated.

Attention Parents: We will be at Camp Ripley for the Section Championships. No date change, no location change!

The Section Championships will be held at the Camp Ripley Training Area just outside Little Falls, Minnesota. Directions are below. Allow at minimum an hour and 40 mins to get there from Elk River. The bus will leave from Elk River High School at 6:30am. Be early in order to get everything packed and on the bus by that time.(6:15am) This is an all day activity. We do have parents bringing hot potatoes, soup, and other goodies. Make sure you bring fluids (water or Gaterade), dry clothes, change of ski clothes and all your equipment.

Parents, we will need some help with workers at the meet. We'll need one, possible two workers at each race (Girls and Boys Varsity CL, Girls and Boys Varsity SK). If you are available to work a race, let us know and we'll jot your name down. We'll have more details for you after the coaches meeting. It would be great if we could have a few people volunteer so each parent would only be working one event (And not an event that their skier was racing in). We need to make sure that Betsy is available to take times for our skiers, or have you take a time, to have that as a backup. Thank you in advance for your help.

We (coaches and parent volunteers) will be putting the final coat of wax on your skis Wednesday night. We will make sure that your skis are at the school Thursday morning, you are responsible for everything else. Please make sure you get the base coat of wax on your skis Tuesday night so that we can start waxing your skis right after practice on Wednesday. You have Tuesday as a day off but the wax room will be open if you want to wax then. We'll give you details at practice for wax but plan on CH6 for classic and CH7 for skate. Again, we will get a more accurate picture tomorrow so we'll post that on the wax room door or check with a coach. Also, remember to label your skis with your name and the technique. Make sure that your kick zone is clearly labeled for your classic skis. We want a narrow strip of tape at each end marking the zone for us. Don't just rely on our finding your marks, after 12 pairs of skis and a lot of wax fumes, they all look the same. ;-)

The Awards Ceremony should be at 4:00pm. We are planning on that being over by 4:30pm and we are hoping to be home by 6:00/6:30pm. (This will depend on traffic/road conditions some) Cell phones will be available for skiers to call for rides on the way.

Pasta Dinner:
The Klotz family is hosting the Pasta Dinner before Sections. The dinner starts at 5:00pm and would be a great time to relax, have some fun and enjoy hanging out with the team before they head off for the Section Meet. This is prime carbo loading time so please join in the team fun! Also - make sure you give a hearty "Thank You!" for the dinner and their support. If you need directions, they were handed out at Monday's practice or you can see a coach or another skier for directions.

Directions:
Camp Ripley is located 15000 Highway 115 in Little Falls, MN. You can Mapquest the directions if you want, or they are below for you. Most of you know your way to Little Falls but they are all below for you. Some points to remember before you leave though...

1. You must have your I.D. with you. They will check this as you go through the main gate on the base.

2. After you go through the Main Gate they will most likely have you check in at Range Control before allowing you to proceed through the barricade to the Biathlon Range. You'll need to write down your license plate number so have that ready in advance.

3. Obey the Speed Limit! They have men training constantly and will ticket you for speeding, it is not worth it. Please obey all signs!

4. Once reaching the Main Gate at Ripley, allow 25-30 mins to reach the Biathlon Range. You might think you are there once you get to the gate, but you are not. Be Patient!

5. Think about car pooling! There is very limited parking up there. If it is possible, please car pool with another set of parents.

6. Thank you for coming out to support your skiers!
