The Birkie – what more needs to be said?!
Day 3 of Winter Trip: Tuesday, 12/29
Breakfast, ski, lunch, ski, dinner, skits, sleep. Day three is always the hardest, no matter where you are or how you approach it. It is always difficult to get up, hard to move those sore muscles, and even more challenging to get yourself out the door to go ski. We did though, and not only did we ski – we did a skiathlon and then took on the Nutcracker. Yep, we do it all here – some pictures from other cameras are included so the file is large and varied but enjoy. The time trial pictures are further in the show.
Day 2 of Winter Trip: Monday, 12/28
Breakfast, ski, lunch, ski, dinner, sleep. We were at Winter Park today the moment they opened and stayed until past closing. We skied – a lot! Started the day classic and then switched to skating after lunch. We played some relay games and felt like we were in a blizzard. Tomorrow we have our skiathlon time trial and then we’ll be tackling the infamous “Nutcracker” trail – it is a doozie!
Day 1 of Winter Trip: Sunday, 12/27
Travel, ski, travel, eat, sleep. The bus and trailer – filled – 48 on the bus, all the gear…wow. We skied at ABR in Ironwood MI this afternoon. Skate first and then finished up with Classic on Sunset as a team – what an adventure!
Year three for our annual ski race, the largest we’ve had so far and a great day out there. More photos will be coming soon. Thanks for all the help putting this on!!

Winter Trip: December 27th – 30th
Training and fun in Northern Wisconsin and the UP of Michigan. We left in the wee-early hours on the 27th and traveled the several hours north to the trails if ABR in Ironwood, Michigan. (Do you know what ABR stands for?) We skied for several hours and then headed to our “home” for the next few days, Camp Jorn YMCA Camp. We continued skiing many hours over the next few days and finished our trip with a time trial and skiing on the Birkie Trail. There was also some fun, of course so check out the pictures!
Our Second Annual citizen/alumni ski race. We had snow, and snow and more snow – but it worked out wonderfully! Thank you to everyone that helped and everyone that came! We hope to see you again next year!
