Thank you! Important reminders
Oct 272017

Hello skiers and parents,

With the first snowfall of the year today, I’m sure everyone is excited for the ski season to start! I know I am!

As many of you have probably heard, Coach Litchy will not be coaching skiing this year. Coach Varty will be taking over as the head coach. Both of the Kallemeyn’s, John and Julie will still be with us as Assistant coaches, as well as alumni Mallory Adams, who will be in her first year helping coach the team. Derek Wold, middle school teacher at Vandenberg, will also be helping us as an assistant coach in his first year too.

Here are some important things to remember as the season approaches.

The parent meeting is Monday Nov. 6th at 7PM in the Zabee Theater at Elk River HS. Athletes should to attend as well. We will talk about season expectations, meet schedule, gear, what new skiers need to start the season, etc… Pioneer Midwest and Gear West will also be there to talk about their respective shops. Both are great places to buy new skis, hats, gloves for the ski season.

Season starts Nov. 13th. Make sure you are signed up, have all your forms in, and have an up to date physical. If you do not have these, you can not practice. You can sign up online.

Ski swaps are a great place to buy new equipment for the season. Ski swaps are like a giant garage sale for skis, boots, poles, etc… You can often find great deals on skis for half the price or less of a new pair of skis. For example, you can potentially get a great high school race ski, Fishcer RCS or equivalent, for the price of a new entry level ski. Even though the ski is a couple years old, it is much lighter and has better base material, which will translate into faster skiing.  There will be people there to help fit you for the skis to make sure they fit correctly based on your height/weight. Make sure you get the NNN Binding system. Here is a link with a list of ski swaps in the area. sales.asp

See you all soon, hopefully with lots of new skiers!
