Hi everyone,

We have certainly had a crazy stretch the last few days, with Conference being moved/changed twice, and the now bitter cold which has closed school for the next two days. Thanks to everyone for being flexible as we try and figure everything out. With that being said, Friday at Baker is the final change for the race. It will not be pushed to next week as it would interfere with Section races. Friday’s weather looks to be good, with highs in the teens after starting out around zero degrees in the morning. The time schedule is the same as it was for Monday, the second time. That is Boys skate at 10:30, Girls Skate at 11:30, Boys Classic Pursuit at 2, and Girls Classic Pursuit at 3. It should be a great day to race!

For the next two days, Tuesday and Wednesday, the weather i too cold for school, and also for skiing. Wind chills will be below safe levels. We recommend that you do try and get some sort of physical activity in if you are able. Most likely this would be running on a treadmill,  or riding a stationary bike. You should try and do 30-45 minutes each day to keep your fitness up.

Thursday we will hopefully be back to somewhat normal. We are planning on having practice at ERHS and doing our normal pre-race workout. A short 30 minute ski with 5-6 pickups to race pace to end the ski. We will be at Woodland Trails. Forecasted highs are for around -3 to -5 degrees, but not windy. Dress warm, and we will be in and out of the cold weather quickly.

Friday is all day at Baker for the Conference. Bus leave times will be at 7:00 am from ERHS.

That’s it for now. We will continue to keep you updated on anything skiing related. We will also send out an email with more conference information including parking and spectator info.

Hi everyone.

The races are on for this week, but look to be very cold. Make sure everyone is dressed warmly as we don’t want anyone getting frostbite. That means covering ears and face with hats, buffs, and glasses if you have them. Also, covering your face with dermatone, or some other wind protection will be helpful. Also bring a change of clothes for after the races so we are not sitting on the bus with wet clothes and getting sick. This is very important!

The leave times are as follows.

Thursday, Mora, Skate

Zimmerman: Gets out at 1:45, bus picks up at 2:00

Salk/Vandenberg: Gets  out at 1:20, walks to high school, bus leaves 1:45

ERHS: Gets out at 1:25, bus leaves 1:45

Rogers: Gets out 1:15, bus leaves 1:30. No coach will be at Rogers, make sure we don’t leave anyone.

Friday, Elm Creek, classic

Zimmerman: Gets out at 1:15, bus picks up at 1:30

Salk/Vandenberg: Gets  out at 1:20, walks to high school, bus leaves 1:45

ERHS: Gets out at 1:25, bus leaves 1:45

Rogers: Gets out 1:45, bus leaves 2:00.

Should be a fun couple days of races. We are all looking forward to it as coaches!

Hi everyone,

Just a quick update on our practices this weekend and into next week.

Meet on Thursday at Theodore Wirth. 5k Classic. Start times Boys at 3:30, Girls at 3:50. We will do two laps of the flatter side of Wirth.

Leave times are as follows.

کتابخانه تاریخ ما

کتابخانه تاریخ ما

Zimmerman 1:00, bus leaves 1:10

Salk/Vandenberg 1:05, walk to High school, leave at 1:30

ERHS: 1:15, leave at 1:30

Rogers HS: 1:35, leave at 1:50

For Friday we will have practice on your own. If you have a ski pass you can go to elm creek. Since we have the early release, the trails should be relatively empty until 2:45, when the other teams get there. You can choose to do classic or skate. Go for a 60-70 minute easy ski. There is no practice at the school on Friday. If you are unable to ski, please go for a 30-45 minute run.

Saturday: We will have practice at Mora again. The kids who went last week had a lot of fun, and we will do it again this week. It is supposed to be very cold on Saturday morning, so we are hosting practice later, in the warmest part of the day. We will meet at ERHS at Noon, and leave shortly after, that should put up up at Mora by 1:15. We will classic ski. The workout is a warmup followed by a series of shorter intervals. Depending on loops, likely around 1-2 minutes in length, focusing on turnover and double pole. We will end with a cooldown. We should be home by around 4:00 to 4:30. Please bring snacks and change of clothes with you for after the ski.

Next week: Monday. There is no school, and we plan on going down to Theodore Wirth to practice and preview for the Conference and Section Meets. If you are shooting for a spot on the conference or section team, we strongly encourage you to attend. Time TBD, likely mid morning. There will be a trail pass fee, we are working on getting a discounted rate for high school.

Also, two races next week, Thursday we are looking to move the Woodland meet to Mora, and then have the meet Friday at Elm Creek. We know this is also finals week. Please talk to your teachers to let them know you will be missing school these days, likely, last hour. Be proactive and schedule another time to take the test if you need to. Before school works well, or after school earlier in the week. The most important thing is letting your teachers know before the day of test.

Hi everyone,

Another week goes by without much snow. This week we will have two practices at Elm Creek, and one race at Theodore Wirth. Theodore Wirth is home to our Conference and Section Championships later this year. It will be great experience for us to ski there this week for a classic race. Teams there are Maple Grove, Park Center, Osseo, Irondale, and Spring Lake Park

Elm Creek practices are Monday (Skate) at 6:15-7:45 and Wednesday (Classic) from 6:15-7:45. The school has allowed us to take a bus to these practices, which is awesome. The whole team can take the bus if they would like. The bus will leave ERHS at 5:30 and be back around 8:30. Be there at 5:15 to get your skis and get ready to go beepmusic

Tuesday we will be at ERHS and have a chance for waxing skis. I know some of you have been asking about it. Tuesday is the day.

Friday and Saturday are TBD at the moment. If you have an Elm Creek pass, the option of skiing on your own is a possibility Friday.

Let’s hope for another great week, think snow!

Hello all,

With the recent thaw on Monday, the trails are un-skiable at Woodlands until we get more snow. Even an inch or two would get us skiing out there again, as the trail is covered in a layer of ice, not bare ground. The alternative plan for the week is as follows.

Tomorrow: Race at Hyland as planned. 5k skate, girls at 4:00, boys at 4:30

Release times: Zimmerman: 1:05, bus leaves 1:15

Salk/Vandenberg: 1:10, walk to ERHS bus leaves 1:35

ERHS: 1:20 bus leaves 1:35

Rogers HS: 1:40 bus leaves 1:55

Thursday: Practice at Elm Creek at 6:15-7:45. Classic, focus on striding and kick-double pole. We will work with small groups. We have 2 vans for those who can’t drive.

Friday: Practice at Elm Creek at 2:45-4:30. Classic intervals. 1k intervals from the bottom of the wall, up the bypass and around the donut, finish over the top. 1 k active recovery back to where you started. Skip the 0.5k section on the lower end. For varsity boys, 5-6 intervals. For Varsity girls and jv, 4-5. For some beginners we will do shorter intervals. We will have 2 vans for this practice too. One at 2:45 for High school and one for middle school at 3:15.

Saturday: We will go ski at Mora Vasaloppet trails, about 70-75 minutes away. We are hoping to reserve the same two vans for this as well. Meet and leave ERHS at 8 am. We will do a distance skate ski of 20-25k. Stop for lunch on the way home.

Thanks to everyone for the flexibility and great attitudes this year with the low snow. It’s gone a long way to the success we have had so far. Lets keep up the good work the second half of the year. It should be a great one!
