It is beginning to look a lot like Nordic Season!  That is real snow falling outside right now, and while it won’t stick around, it is sticking to the deck and putting a winter chill in the air.  Since that winter feeling is coming, it is a good time to remind you that the parents meeting is coming up on Monday, November 2nd, at 6:00 pm in the cafeteria at Elk River High School.  Come and get information about the season, about the sport, and answer any questions that you have before we start up practice.

Registration forms are available in the office or can be taken care of online.  (The online registration link is below.)  Make sure that registration is taken care of before practice officially starts on Tuesday, November 10th.  We’d also like to have you fill out the team informational form that is linked below.  That helps us get all of your contact information in one place and see what equipment needs we’ll have for the season.

Also, if you didn’t see the note about one of our alumni that has been diagnosed with cancer, please see the note below.  We’d love to get those notes and things together to drop of in the next week or two.  You could bring any notes or anything to the parent meeting and we’ll collect them and get them out to Jake.

We look forward to seeing you on Monday at the meeting!  If you have any questions, you can ask any of the coaches or write them down and we’ll be sure to answer them at the meeting.  See you then!

Jacob Nardini – Rogers Alumni, Class of 2015

Late this summer one of our former skiers, Jacob Nardini, was diagnosed with Leukemia.  Jacob is undergoing treatment, and will be in and out of the hospital over the next year or more.

We would love to drop off another care package to him and it would be great to be able to include some notes and things from the team.  If you are able, we’d love to have you write some notes/cards for him that we can put together and drop off for you.  Think about how you feel when you get a card in the mail, what a fun surprise – we’d love to flood Jake with a bunch of them along with some goodies for him and his family from his nordic family.

If you want to/are able to write a note of support, make a card, find some pictures of him/the team, anything that you think will boost him up and add some joy and fun to his day – them off to Coach Litchy or Coach Anderson at school and we’ll get them put together and dropped off for him.  Jake was a great member of our team and is part of our ski family and we want to support him any way possible.

Jake’s family has been updating his caring bridge site so you can see Jake’s updated progress.  He is fighting well, but it will be a long battle.  The family/friends have also set up a gofundme site to help cover the mounting costs that have come on from transportation, to work time they’ve missed, to some medical expenses they’ve had to take on.  If you are interested in contributing to that, the link is below.

We wish you the best Jake.  Stay Strong!

Many returning athletes have rental gear out from this summer.  If you have rented roller skis either bring them to the pre-season meeting or return them to either Litchy at RHS or Coach K at ERHS before the meeting.

There are also a few athletes who kept uniforms last year for after season racing… these need to be returned ASAP! If you know of an alumni who still has a uniform let them know that we need that back.

Get excited and spread the word about Nordic! We look forward to a great year :)
