We are back from the winter trip! Everyone needs to take 1-2 days minimum rest (mandatory). If you are feeling under the weather, you could even take up to three days. The conditions were beautiful and everyone worked hard and got lots of skiing in. The trip wouldn’t have been possible without all the wonderful chaperone help – huge thank you to these families: Crane, Webster, Vrchota, Kallemeyn, Nelson, Studniski, Varty and Seymour. The team appreciates all that you do!
Enjoy your break and rest up. Make sure you are continuing to get sleep, fluids and take care of yourself. We’ve had several skiers sick the past few weeks so make sure to be smart about taking care of yourself. Scheduled practice will resume on Monday Jan 5th. Woodland is thin but open for skiing – hope for some more snow. Please get out and do some easy level one skiing or cross-training! This means you can hold a conversation and your breathing isn’t too heavy. It’s not a level zero though, you should still sweat
Although we got some snow it is still not enough to host a race on. The meet that was originally scheduled for Tuesday is now on Thursday Jan 8th at Elm Creek.
The winter trip people are on the road and we are looking forward to some good snow!
The winter trip is approaching almost as fast as our snow is melting! They have good snow conditions up at ABR and Minocqua Winter Park, so don’t worry. Minocqua is reporting 12″ in the woods and 8″ of snow base on trails.
We are looking for some parents to send crockpots or slow cookers with to heat food up for lunches on the winter trip. If you have one that we could use for the trip – please send it with your athlete on the 27th! I am also planning a cribbage tournament. If you have a cribbage board and deck of cards, bring that also! Plan on being at the high school at 6am to start loading gear.
Today we sent home a packing list with athletes, if you would like a copy click here!
Things to be sure to remember – a lunch – race suit – ski clothes (a few sets) – both boots – skis – poles – ski bag – training log – sleeping bag – pillow – towel…check the list!!!
Pack light, but don’t forget anything…it is not an easy task but you can do it!! You might also want a blanket or something on the bus to be comfortable. Be at the school BY 6:00am – we’ll need your help loading and packing everything in the trailer! We pull out at 6:30 am SHARP!! See you there!
Enjoy the time with your families!!
With the variable weather please come to practice prepared for anything! We are currently planning on doing some dryland training on Monday so bring running shoes, outdoor clothing and your ski gear. If Woodlands opens up for the team we will switch gears and head there.
If anyone on the team would like to purchase a Three Rivers Park District season pass for $32.50 please let me know. I will have a sign up sheet on Monday and we should get the passes by Friday. If we continually don’t have snow, we will have to move practice to Elm Creek. Skiers either need the season pass or $8 each time we practice officially at Elm Creek. I don’t anticipate this happening, but would like to plan ahead for any scenario.
A huge thank you to the Fife and Beaver families for adopting the meet on Wednesday (and being flexible with the change in dates!).
