Congrats to all the racers today! It was a fun and exciting day at Lakeville with about 34 of our JV skiers competing. We had some great competition from the other teams there and our skiers had fantastic performances. Thanks to all the parents for their support – we saw so many of you down there cheering for your skiers, it was wonderful – several of you came down to cheer and then chauffeured your kids home for other things, and several of you were able to send some snacks and treats down on short notice to support the team. Thank you so much! We had a great time and enjoyed an excellent meal at Olive Garden afterward!

Team Results and Pictures are posted. We’ll see the overall results as soon as possible.

Perfect day for skiing!!

Huge congratulations to both teams for yesterday’s fantastic performances!  It was a great day of racing and all of our skiers really put together some strong races.  The boys took second place to a very strong Eden Prairie team.  They skied exceptionally well and despite Jake getting ill, they were able to show their strength.  A special congratulations to state qualifiers Nate Webster, Breck Hickman and Joey Martin.  We’d also like to recognize Jake Schroeder who put in an impressive performance despite being sick and pushed all the way through both races to finish just one spot out of qualifications.

The girl’s team also had some special performances and were able to place a strong 4th place to powerhouses of Wayzata and Eden Prairie and not far behind Minnetonka.  Reece Hickman put together two strong races to finish just one spot out of state qualification.

Zimmerman had its first representation at the Section level with Allie Sterneman representing the Thunder and skiing tremendously well.  Roger’s Royals skied strong with the girls haveing a full scoring team for the first time ever with Brittney Dorn, Maddie Anderson, Kaitlyn Kemmetmueller, and Brooke Dorn competing.   The Royal’s Boys were led by Tommy Como and included Jakob Dotterer and Taylor Dallman.  Excellent job to all three teams!!

Results are linked up and we’ll get pictures up later this evening.  Awesome job team!

Tomorrow we’ll have the JV/Jr. High Championships down in Lakeville.  The bus will be loading at 7:00am so be there a few minutes early to get your things together.  The address and time schedule are below.  This is a skate race for all skiers and is split for each grade level so that will be a great experience for our skiers to be able to race against people in only their grade.  We’ll be heading out to lunch afterward – Olive Garden in the past – so bring some money with for lunch, the soup/salad all you can eat is usually around $7 and other menu items ususally run a few dollars more.  We haven’t heard of any families bringing treats down for this meet so if anyone is able to volunteer on this short notice – that would be great.  Just e-mail Coach K.  We aren’t looking for anything fancy since we will be heading for lunch after but it would be great to have some water/gatorade and maybe some cookies or fruit to celebrate their end of season race.  Varsity will also be heading down to cheer on the JV squad and to join in lunch with us.  They’ll also be doing their workout on the Lakeville course and working on some tag-offs for those doing the relays.

We’ll get information out on the State trip tomorrow and have the relays finalized later today at practice.  Departure is on Tuesday after school and we’ll be returning late on Thursday evening.  Congrats again to all sections skiers!!

Yes, ladies and gentlemen – the Section Championships are on Thursday! We will be competing as three teams at Sections this year – The rockin’ Roger’s Royals, the enthusiastic Elk River Elk’s, and the striking Zimmerman thunder! It will be a busy day for all of us down there.

Racing gets underway at 10:00 am with the boys classic event. Parking will be tricky so carpool if you can. The bus will be loading at 7:00am so skiers need to be there a little before that. Make sure you have breakfast, fluids and some snacks packed. Parents will have lunch and drinks for between the races to replenish you. Check that you have all your equipment and race suit ready the night before and make sure you are getting your rest these last two nights.

Section Meet Schedule:

  • 10:oo am Boys Classic
  • 11:00 am Girls Classic
  • 1:30 pm Boys Skate (Pursuit)
  • 2:30 pm Girls Skate (Pursuit)
  • 4:00/4:15 Awards Ceremony

It will be a big day of racing so come on down if you are able and cheer on our skiers!

Don’t forget about the pasta dinner tonight at the Elmquist’s house.  If you didn’t get directions at practice last night or last week then pick them up at practice today or contact Mary for her address.

Parents – we will be looking for help waxing again on Wednesday.  With so many skiers skiing – it would be very helpful to have parents available for brushing and cleaning skis and such.  We’ll be at the Hickman’s so come on over and help us make all those skis fast!  Thank you!!
