The permission form and information for the relays is linked below.  The cost of entry for each relay has gone up this year to $75 which was unexpected.  Including a contribution to Jarv for the use of his cabin, trail fees, and breakfast/lunches the cost for the trip will be $40.  If this is a difficulty for any relays skier, please send an e-mail to Coach K or talk to her on Monday morning.  Otherwise checks can be made out to Elk River Nordic and permission forms are needed ASAP.

JV Conference Championships are on Monday! The race schedule is below:

  • 3:40 – boys skate
  • 3:55 – girls skate
  • 4:20 – classic combined mass start

Release times will be: Zimmerman at 1:15, Salk and Vandenberg at 1:30, ERHS 1:45, Rogers at 2:00.  A bus will pick up at Zimmerman, Salk and ERHS and then proceed to Rogers and the Elm Creek.

Skiers – You can do either race, it is your choice.  We waxed today (Friday) so your skis should be fast and ready to go.  If you weren’t able to wax today – don’t worry, you can still ski on Monday.  It should be a great day of racing and we are looking forward to it.  We’ll see you all there.  You should get out skiing a little more this weekend so that you are ready for Monday.  Get out and enjoy the snow!

Just a reminder that the Gatzke’s are hosting a pasta dinner on Saturday at 5:00pm.  If you need directions contact another skier or Coach K and they’ll get you directions.

Relay Skiers:

We will be leaving Tuesday after school – you will be missing school on Wednesday and Thursday – talk to your teachers in advance and get your work ahead of time.  We will be traveling in school vans and will stop Tuesday evening for dinner in Cloquet at Perkins.  Wednesday we will compete in the Relays and also ski the state meet course.  Thursday we will ski the second state meet course and see the action of the state meet.  We’ll head home after the meet and will be home Thursday evening.  We are checking on the details of cost for the relay/trail passes and will get that info along with the permission form online tomorrow.

What a tremendous day of racing we had on Thursday!  Our skiers should be very proud of how well they skied and how tough they fought.  We were working into the new section and know that we have some work to do over the next year to compete at their level and it will only make us stronger as individuals and as a team.  The boys took third behind ranked teams Minnetonka and Eden Prairie with Minnetonka eeking out the win over the heavily favored Eden Prairie.  Eden Prairie still managed to qualify ALL 7 of their individual skiers – very impressive.  On the girls side, Eden Prairie and Wayzata tied – leaving the tiebreaker to total time and Wayzata won that match-up.  It will be interesting and fun to see how our section teams will represent up at the state meet.  They should all do very well.

For our boys and girls – we could not be prouder of how well they skied!  Boys were 3rd and girls were a tight 4th, it was fantastic racing and with our young squads, we know they are focused on future years already.  A huge congrats on a great season to Jake Schroeder, Nate Webster, Breck Hickman, Joey Martin, Ryan Trapp, Ryan Shaw, Tommy Como, Mary Elmquist, Anna Haugen, Mallory Adams, Reece Hickman, Maggie Hohlen, Shannon White, and Brittney Dorn!  What a great year, huge improvements – wow!  A special congrats to our Senior Section skiers: Max Riebel, Alex Hickman and Laura Crepeau!  It has been a huge pleasure to see you improve and compete over the years – congratulations on all of your accomplishments.  We’ll be taking most of this group up to Giant’s Ridge to compete in the State Coaches Relays next Wednesday and to also do some prep work on the State Course for next year – we have some big goals and dreams that we are working towards and that training starts now!  Wish them Luck!!
