Skate Times

Uncategorized Comments Off

As promised – before cleaning up or even getting dinner, your skate times are posted. Coach K will get the pursuit results up and some notes about practice and everything else going on later this evening but she is putting her foot down and demanding dinner first. ;-)

You guys did a great job today though – excellent racing even with the slower snow! Check back later tonight for pursuit times and everything – just a word of caution, these have not been looked at at all for errors so if you spot something, send Coach K an e-mail but don’t worry too much, things will get straightened out before too long.

What a great day to race. Results are up along with the time back for the start of Thursday’s race. The course was in great condition – thanks to all the groomers out there for helping out and especially to former Coach Ring Jarvi for setting the tracks.

We’ll have a shorter practice tomorrow for recovery and then our skate race will be on Saturday. It looks like it will be a warm one on Thursday – so it would be a great day to check out the team do some racing!

Busy Week!

Uncategorized Comments Off

We have a busy couple weeks coming up here and most of the excitement will be happening on the home course which is wonderful! We will have a regular practice time on Monday allowing you to get a little more practice in on classic before the race on Tuesday. Tuesday and Thursday’s races will be at Woodland. It will be a two day race, day one will be the 5k classic and day two will be the 5k skate with a pursuit style start. Pursuit style meaning that after the finish of the classic race, the times will be placed and then that will be the start order for Thursday. It will also provide the times for starting the race on Thursday. If you finish 13th on Tuesday, 1:11 behind the leader – on Thursday you will start 13th, 1:11 behind the leader.

Both races will be at Woodlands so ERHS will not need to get out early. The rest of the school will be released early to be at ERHS in time to change and make the bus. (Same time as last week) Zimmerman, you will be released at 1:40, Salk and Vandenberg will get out at 1:55(Salk – there will be a bus to pick you up), Rogers will be released at 1:45.

Boys will start at 3:30, 1 minute on the clock, girls will start near 3:45, 15 mins on the clock. One skier from each school will go out at a time in 20 second intervals. The race courses are posted below.

Wednesday’s practice will start at the middle school practice time.  This is a recovery/prerace day so practice will be shorter.  If you can, wax your skis right after school before we start skiing, this will save some time for you after practice.

Friday will be practice on your own, we’ll give you a workout to be done.  Baker will be available after 3:30 on Friday(conference meet for a different conference) or anytime on Saturday.

Looking ahead to next week: Monday will be the JV Conference Championships held at Woodland Trails.  We will work out details and get you info later in the week.  Wednesday will be the Conference Championships at Baker Park.  This will be an all day event – 10 boys and 10 girls will be competing for Elk River.

Treats – It looks like we have treats covered for Tuesday but we’d like to have some snacks on Thursday and on the next Monday – if you are interested, let us know.  Thank you!

Today’s meet has been canceled due to the predicted windchill this afternoon.  Again, the meet has been canceled due to the windchill for this afternoon.  All schools have been notified and announcements have been made at the schools but we also don’t want all of you parents out there in the cold weather.  Stay warm and drive safe!

The high school will have core body practice starting at 2:30 SHARP and finishing around 3:30pm.

It is cold out there – we would love to have you come out and support the skiers at our second HOME meet tomorrow but please remember to dress for the weather, it will be chilly out there.

We’ve had some great practices the last week and the kids are really looking good with their technique and effort on the trails.  We’ve got an easy day to prep for the race tomorrow but they’ll be ready for some hard racing come Thursday!

Since we are at home, the Elk River High School skiers will not need to get out early.  The rest of the school will be released early to be at ERHS in time to change and make the bus.  Zimmerman, you will be released at 1:40, Salk and Vandenberg will get out at 1:55(Salk – there will be a bus to pick you up), Rogers will be released at 1:45.

Boys will start at 3:30, 1 minute on the clock, girls will start near 3:50, 20 mins on the clock.  One skier from each school will go out at a time in 20 second intervals.  The race course is posted below.
