The section meet is just days away now and we know you are getting primed for the event.  The bus will load at 6:00 am and we’ll make the long trek up to Camp Ripley – please remember to drive slowly once you are inside the gates, speed limit is 25 and they stick to it!  We’ve also been warned that the roads are icy so drive safely.  Also remember to allow extra time to pass through range control.  They change the process every year so just arrive early and follow the directions they tell you when you arrive.

The teams will be choosing bibs and start order at Monday’s practice so they know exactly where they are going out on Thursday.

Waxing will be happening on Wednesday night at the Volk’s again.  Thank you to all who came last Tuesday and to the Volk’s for hosting again – you all are a huge help.  With the projected warm temps – we’ll be needing all that help again as it is important to give the skiers every chance to shave some time off.  They’ve prepared, now we just need to get their skis prepared.  We’ll be starting a little after 5:00 but we’d take your help at whatever time you can spare it.  Thank you in advance.  If you need directions on how to get there, drop a line to a coach or check with us at practice.  If you have no idea how to wax, don’t worry – we’ll teach you and just having extra bodies is nice.  Plus, we have  a good time also.

We would love to have the entire team join us at Camp Ripley but we can’t pull you all out of school again.  We’ll share results as we go but we can only bring up the Section skiers and the skiers that raced at conference.  If you are one of the conference skiers and would like to travel up with the team, please talk with one of the coaches on Monday so they can get you cleared from school.

The race schedule for Lakeville is linked from the weekly page so you can know when your skier will be racing.  Bus times and projected return times will be added later this week along with directions.

If we are forgetting something (which we are…) please let us know so we can add it to the page.  Thanks!

Conference Championships are tomorrow at Baker as scheduled. The schedule is posted below for times. It will be cold so dress warm. Parents are scheduled for food to feed you all (thank you!) and waxing is scheduled at the Volk’s tonight. We’d love to have a few more folks to help with waxing if you are able. We’ll be starting to wax around 5/5:15pm but you can come whenever you are able. (We’ll put you to work!) ;-) And a huge thank you to the Volk’s for the use of their heated garage again!
7:30 am load the bus – don’t forget anything. Both boots, both skis, both poles, suit, water, extra food, change of clothes, … else?

Sorry folks – not enough snow to be able to make it work. We will have practice but the race for today will not happen. Wednesday is still on as scheduled as far as we know.

Jan 242010

Okay folks – Woodland Trails is still closed. We are hoping that we’ll get some snow over the evening hours but for now, it is not looking good. The meet for tomorrow will not happen unless we get a few inches of snow. It does look like Baker is ski-able for Conference on Wednesday so we will still plan on that for now. We will be able to ski for practice as long as the snow continues to fall. Plan to ski – the JV race is on hold it looks like, we’ll make final call tomorrow morning.

Jan 242010

Will the snow come tonight? We have not gotten any updates on the trail status at Woodland yet. The JV Conference meet is scheduled for tomorrow but we are still waiting on word for the trails. We’ll let you know about that as soon as we find out. The Conference Meet is also still scheduled for Baker Park on Wednesday but again, we are still waiting for the go-ahead from the race director.
Conference skiers – we will need you to wax your skis for Wednesday’s race. We’ll be putting the final coat on them on Tuesday night at the Volk’s house. (Parent’s we’ll be looking for your help with waxing on Tuesday night!). You need to have your skis ready to go by 4:45 on Tuesday so plan ahead for when and where you will wax.

Monday – if we are able to race – 3:45 boys classic, 3:55 girls classic, 4:05 boys skate, 4:20 girls skate.
